VNAHC Partners with Sodexo to Provide Nutritious Meals on Wheels
HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, January 20, 2009 – Local home care agency VNA HealthCare announces a new partnership with Sodexo Catering, North America’s leading and most reputable provider of food services, to provide healthy home-delivered meals for the agency’s hundreds of Meals on Wheels clients.
VNA HealthCare’s Meals on Wheels program is an affordable home dining experience that delivers up to two meals to client homes daily. According to Laurie St. John, VNA HealthCare’s Vice President of Independent Living Services, the program is designed to meet the dietary needs of individuals who may not have the ability to prepare meals for themselves."Whether someone needs meals for a short time while recovering from an illness – or needs ongoing service due to an inability to shop and safely prepare meals, Meals on Wheels can help. Often, our Meals on Wheels program is the one factor that enables many of our clients to continue living at home – and out of an assisted living facility or a nursing home," St. John said.
"As baby boomers age and the demand for home-delivered meals increases, it’s more important than ever to make certain that our clients receive nutritious meals each day. Our new partnership with Sodexo ensures that our clients will receive the best nutrition – while thoroughly enjoying their meals."
In addition to the standard American meals that are offered, St. John explained that clients can also order Meals on Wheels to accommodate special diets including ethnic, diabetic, renal, bland or therapeutic diets such as ground, puree or soft. All meals are prepared to meet the daily nutritional requirements as established by the Connecticut Department of Health.
Although the Meals on Wheels program can provide a lunch and dinner up to seven days a week, there are no minimum day requirements and delivery schedules are flexible. VNA HealthCare’s Meals on Wheels program also does not impose age or financial restrictions.
