Wolcott Volunteer Honored with Agency Award

Karen Rosa of Wolcott was honored April 29 by local home care and hospice agency, VNA HealthCare. More than 900 volunteers help the agency carry out its mission.  Karen began her volunteer activities in 1994 because wanted to be an example for her children, to show them how important it is to help others in need. She and her girls would make deliveries during their school vacations. Karen says, “I get so much back from the people I’ve met over the years - in friendships and from all the senior generation has to offer as they share life and family stories.”

Last year, VNA HealthCare delivered over 440,000 meals to individuals throughout Greater Hartford and Waterbury. Sometimes Karen will call the office to follow up on a client if they haven’t had a meal delivered in awhile - just to make sure everything is alright. She says that no matter how little time you feel you have to give, it is always greatly appreciated. She feels it’s very important to share your time to help others in your community.  Her belief says it all: We are here to help one another!
