Nurse and Aide Honored at Annual Meeting
Luanne Salcito, R. N. of Waterbury was given The John N. Lewis Leadership Award at the 108th annual meeting of VNA HealthCare held October 22. The award is named after the founder of the Waterbury Visiting Nurse Association and it recognizes employees who, by their example, inspire others to fulfill the mission of the agency.
Her supervisor Peggy Tentoni said Luanne’s passion for VNA HealthCare’s mission, her staff, and the agency’s patients are unparalleled. Described as a motivator, passionate and fair, Salcito is the Home Care Aide Supervisor and has been with the agency for 29 years.
Angelica Canar, a Home Care Aide on the Waterbury hospice team was given the GREAT Employee of the Year award. She has been with the agency for four years. Her supervisor said that Angelica’s efforts saved one patient who started to choke by using the Heimlich method, stating said, “Angelica is “small but mighty!”
