VNA HealthCare Home Care Aide Recognized in National Publication

Lina D’Agostino, a hospice home care aide with local home care agency, VNA HealthCare, was featured in a recent issue of the national publication Home Health Aide Digest for her outstanding performance in providing excellence in client care.

Each day, thousands of home health and hospice aides across the nation provide personal care to ill or disabled clients in the place they most want to be--home. “Lina D’Agostino belongs to this important group of paraprofessionals who provide up to 90% of patient care in the home setting,” says Home Health Aide Digest’s publisher Nathan Unseth. “They are the backbone of the home care industry.” Unseth continues, “And to help recognize the vital contribution these workers are making to the health care industry, each issue of the publication profiles a Home health or hospice aide who best represents the profession.”

D’Agostino was nominated by VNA HealthCare because she met the criteria established by other home health and hospice aides nationwide.

Unseth says D’Agostino was selected for the ‘Spirit Profile’ because of the special spirit, skill, style, commitment and compassion she brings to her work.

According to Luanne Salcito, Home Care Aide Supervisor, with VNA HealthCare, D’Agostino has worked for VNA HealthCare for 17 years. “During that time, Lina has earned the highest respect from her clients, coworkers and supervisors,” said Salcito, “and is most deserving of this national recognition.”

D’Agostino was inspired to become a hospice home care aide with VNA HealthCare after her terminally ill mom received hospice services from the Agency. “It was my vocation, I was called to do it,” she explained.

“I believe it’s a gift. You’ve got to love your patients, and love your job. It’s got to come from your heart,” she explained to the publication.
