Friendly Visitors
Thousands of our community’s elderly and disabled face isolation and loneliness on a daily basis. As a Friendly Visitor you can brighten someone’s life with the gift of companionship. The Friendly Visitor program matches area residents with volunteers who are willing to make weekly visits or phone calls to provide friendship and socialization. Whether you talk on the phone or visit to read together, look at old photographs, play games, listen to music, watch television or just lend a listening ear, you will play a significant role in improving someone’s quality of life.
Meals on Wheels and Catered with Care
Each day volunteers from our Meals on Wheels program in the Hartford region and Catered with Care program in the Waterbury area deliver two nutritious meals to the doorsteps of than 1,000 Connecticut people who are unable to prepare their own food.
Hospice and Bereavement Volunteers
Our hospice and bereavement volunteers play an important role in enhancing our patients’ quality of life to the greatest extent possible by helping them live at home more comfortably with their loved ones. Hospice volunteers can provide precious respite time to weary family members and offer comfort and support to patients simply by being there. Bereavement volunteers support grieving families through in-home visits, phone calls and support groups. All volunteers will receive special training, ongoing education and supervision.

Office Volunteers

You can work with any of our departments on a variety of projects — all at your own convenience. This is an excellent opportunity for retirees who want to remain active in the community.
Internships
Work for one of Connecticut’s largest non-profit organizations. If you are a high school or college student, you can apply for internship positions in one of several departments. Call for details and open positions.
